Swimming is a confusing sport, because sometimes you do it for fun, and other times you do it to not die. And when I’m swimming, sometimes I’m not sure which one it is. – Demetri Martin

The weather is getting better in Dalian, so Dalian Laowai decided to make an outdoor meetup for swimming! Same like the quote above, some people joined this meetup because they really do enjoy swimming, while others joined because they wanted to learn how to swim. As a matter of fact, swimming is really an important and fun sport!

It was quite challenging to find a swimming pool that fit with our requirements. We wanted everyone to have a pleasant experience with a big, clean, and of course not that crowded (which is hard since this is China and we have meetup on weekend) swimming pool in China. Luckily, through some advices from our local chinese friends, we decided to try Blue Castle Swimming Pool.

As we scheduled, all participants gathered in front of Walmart and went together by taxi. All of us were excited and glad when we found out the place was as great as it promised! The bathroom was clean and even the lock system in the locker room amazed us. Moreover, even though it was on Saturday, the place wasn’t crowded as other swimming pool.

Our only problem was some participants forgot to bring headcap. For your information, in China, head cap is a compulsory thing to use when you want to swim in swimming pool. The good thing was there was a shop in the swimming pool that sold all the swimming equipments so the problem was fixed easily.

For around three hours, we spent time there while trying to teach each others how to swim in the right way. Dalian is a port city so swimming supposed to be a required skill to live in this city without fear.

If you miss it, you can click the thumbnail below to see what it really looked like! It was forbidden to take picture from inside the swimming pool area, but we manage to snatch some from outside!

If you’re willing to go there, you can give this address to the taxi driver (小平岛路39号) or you can use bus number 28 to go there easily!
